FOI Requests

BC’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) gives the public a right to access records in the custody or control of public bodies like PavCo. With transparency and accountability as our top priorities, PavCo already makes public many reports and documents. Before making an FOI request, we suggest you take a look at our document library first.

If you would like to request access to records not found in our document library, please make an FOI request by emailing foi@bcpavco.com.

Please see below for FAQs on our FOI process:

What kind of records can I access?

You can access your own personal information and general corporate records, subject to certain exceptions, which are set out in FIPPA. If you want to access someone else’s personal information, you will need to provide that person’s authorization in writing.

How do I make a FOI Request?

Please email foi@bcpavco.com with your request. Provide as much detail as you can and note whether you are an Indigenous Governing Entity. If you are requesting personal information other than your own, please provide that person’s authorization in writing. Please note that FOI requests must be made in writing. We are unable to process requests made over the phone.

You may also choose to mail in your request to the below address:

Is there a fee?

Effective August 1, 2022, a non-refundable application fee of $10 is required for all General FOI requests. Indigenous Governing Entities and requests for personal information are exempt from the $10 application fee.

After submitting your request, our team will contact you regarding any applicable fees and provide a unique payment link. Fees can be paid online or via cheque.

What can I expect after submitting a request?

  1. After you submit your FOI request, our team will review and acknowledge your request.
  2. We will assess any applicable fees.
    • Please note that there is a $10 non-refundable application for general FOI requests. Requests made by an Indigenous Governing Entity or for personal information are exempt from the application fee.
    • If processing fees are applicable, we will send you a fee estimate as well as a unique payment link.
    • Fees can be paid online or via cheque.
  3. Once payment for the application fee is received (if applicable) we will begin processing your request and will respond no later than 30 business days after your request and payment (if applicable) are received.
  4. If processing fees apply, you will need to pay 50% of the fee before we begin processing your request and the remainder of the balance before we release your records.
  5. FIPPA allows for a time extension of up to 30 business days in certain circumstances. We will inform you if an extension is required.
  6. You may request a copy of the records either in print or digitally. If we redact or withhold some or all of the requested records, we will let you know the reasons why by indicating which sections of FIPPA are being relied upon to withhold information.
